Veterans Day

When I was a kid I used to go to a couple of parks with my dad. There was one park that was special to my dad. You see, in this park was/is a F9F-6P Cougar Aircraft. I used to love going there mostly because I got to play on a jet. Which, let's face it, it is basically every little boys dream. It was special to my dad because my dad would always say "This is OUR aircraft. This is OUR park. We have to take care of it and make sure it is safe." I never really understood back then what He was referring to.
My dad was in the Navy for 10 years. He always looked at that experience with a sense of honor and pride. I remember seeing tears come to his eyes when he would talk about his "family" (other service brothers & sisters).
Well, this past August that very park was restored and dedicated to honor the members of the NAVY who have fallen in battle. Below are some photos from that service. (The pictures are provided by my mom...)








In addition to the post about this park, I have decided that since today is Veteran's day I would take a moment to express my thanks to any and all veterans. Thank you for you service and dedication. Your sacrifice has provided me and all other Americans with a freedom that we very often take for granted. The price that you and your family have paid may never truly be understood. However from the bottom of my heart today I say "Thank you for a job well done." May God bless you and keep you safe. Below are some photos of the veterans in my life. A PRINCESS PARTY

Every Princess Has Her Prince?

So on Friday night I had the pleasure of my first Daughter/Father Date Night.
I took Abby to see Disney on Ice here in Baltimore. WE had a blast.
She was so excited and really only got scared once, during the "Disney Celebrates Halloween." So I decided that we should wait out in the lobby until that scene was over. The next scene was the only true reason why she wanted to go in the first place.

Disney Celebrates Valentines Day:
All the Disney Princesses and Princes came out to do their little gig. She is really into being a princess, so this was the highlight of the night. I just enjoyed watching her eyes light up and seeing her edge forward on her seat... It ended with this little statement "Every Princess has to have a Prince"

I was reminded of what God must be like when WE receive something that we have been waiting so long for. He must love the glow in our eyes and the giggle in our voice. I think that this is what it means to have a "child like faith". My daughter has no fear of me doing something to hurt her. She has no fear of me giving her something that would harm her in anyway. She has complete faith that we (my wife and I) will take care of her. So if I am suppose to have a "child like faith"...

Why do I have a problem with showing Jesus that same faith and trust?

He hasn't ever let me down. Even when I don't get what I want. He gives me what I need!

One awkward step for MADI... One small step in a life...

Last night Madilyn Hope Heim, my youngest daughter took her first "recorded" steps. She has been trying to walk for a couple of days now. If anyone knows little kids, it is impossible to try to make sure they are safe and photography or video tape at the same time. Soooo.... Last night we decieded to make a group effort. Mommy helped her get started and pointed in the right direction and I would be the catcher/photographer... The best part is that she didn't crash and I got some photos... Afterwards we had fun family balloon time. Thanks for reading and enjoy the photos.

Once Upon A Little Town

There is a little town in the State of NY where I learned so much!

It is called Bath. It is in this place that I started Youth Pastoring in 2001. I started working with 12-15 teenagers and after 3 years I watched that group of hungering students grow into 40 young adults, who wanted to take on the world for Jesus.

Well, I was able to go back for a visit this past weekend. It is a beautiful little town exspecially this time year. Bath is set in the middle of a valley w/ Mountians and Hills surrounding it. With crisp air and changing leaves it is a very beautiful place. Of course the people there are the real reason why I love that town and my father is buried in the VA cementary there.

Anyway, here are some of the photos that I took this weekend.

Change is Good... DON'T YOU THINK?

(Sorry the title is taking from my favorite Disney movie "Lion King")

Coming out work today I realized something... I love this time of year! The leaves are starting to change. The air gets a little brisk, and at least in Maryland it is still warm during the day. The Sun causes the leaves to sparkle. Mostly I can get some great photos. This season (autumn) has a lot of change in it. Animals, plants, trees, people, and weather seem to get ready for winter. Also I feel like I am in a season in my life of change, harvest, and sowing... Here are some of my thoughts lately about the four seasons.

Spring: A time when Life awakens from a slumber. To me this is a time of receiving.
Summer: Abundance of life, Full of sun and warmth. A time when God's hand of blessing seems to be present.
Autumn: Time of Changing, Sowing, & of Harvest
Winter: Time of rest, and of trust.

Right now in my life I feel like God has me in place of harvesting and sowing. I feel like this season is a time when I will be harvesting. Harvesting the things that God has planted in those around me. I also feel like this is a time when God will be sowing in me. Sowing in me the promises and grace that I will need to listen to, and trust in.

Anyway, I have been listening to a song called "Desert Song" lately and these are some thoughts that can come into my mind. I hope that this makes some sense. Below are some of the photos that I have taken and thanks for reading
