Music...

I have heard it said that "a picture is worth a thousand words..."
I agree with that statement however, I would say that to me a song is worth a thousand memories. I am not sure what it is with music and me but I would say that 98-99 % of the songs I listen to remind me of someone or someplace...
Example:
1. A Page is Turned by Bebo Norman:
Reminds me of my wife and dancing together for the first time as a married couple. Reminds me that she is always there for me no matter what happens or where we end up. She is truly the love of my life.
Beautiful Day by U2... Also reminds me of my wife. I am sure that this is her favorite song. When I hear this song it reminds me of Kazakhstan and the time spend there... TOGETHER AND APART!!!!

2. Table for Two by Derek Webb (Caedmon's Call):
This songs reminds of my best friend Jayme... Reminds me how we thought things were going to turn out when we were younger. I remember we used day dream... Man am I glad that God doesn't allow all my dreams to come true. I would have missed out on my wife and children.

3. Sullivan Street by Counting Crows
Reminds me completely of NYC. I am not sure why... Must likely it is because I was in NYC on my internship with NYSUM when I heard this song.

4. Green by Brendan James
Reminds of my friend David. Long story but every time I hear this song I think about his life. The good, bad, whatever. I find myself singing out loud and remembering our Elim Days!
Ashes by Embrace
Also reminds me of my friend David... He introduced me to them and this song... THANKS DAVID!

5. Love Alone by Caedmon's Call
This song reminds me of my mom. Long Story... Just trust me!

6. Faith my eyes by Caedmon's Call
This one reminds me of my family and Buffalo. I am sure that Derek Webb wrote this song for me. Thanks Derek Webb. (seriously if you don't know who Caedmon's call, or Derek Webb is... PLEASE STOP READING AND GO BUY SOME OF THEIR MUSIC)

7. Falling Awake by Gary Jules
This is a hard song for me... It reminds me of my dad. I have to be in the right place to listen to it. When I listen to this song I have so many memories run through my mind. "Pops, I miss ya"

So those are just a few examples that I can think of. Very often you will find me just sitting in my drive away in my car listening to a song. There are plenty of times that I won't exit my car until the song is over. Almost like I want the memories to finish playing before I move on... Well, thanks for reading... this was a hard post for me to write but one that I have been thinking about for a couple of weeks. So I hope you have happy and some sad memories with music!!!!
